Installing an LCD TV

LCD technology gives us many more options when it comes to physically installing and positioning your new TV display. You no longer have to configure your entire room and furniture around the positioning of your television. Now you can position and incorporate the TV almost anywhere in your house, flat, office or anywhere else that you wish.  There are multiple ways to install your LCD TV.

You can fix your flat-panel TV on almost any wall in your home. Wall Mounts allow you to maximize space in your home and exploit the benefits of this ultra thin television technology. This wall mounting option is usually the least expensive option available.  A wall bracket will usually add approximately two inches to the televisions total depth once mounted.

lcd tv swivel mountWall Mounts that tilt and swivel on a pivot enable you to position your TV above , what is considered to be normal, eye level.  This lets you position the television out of the way, yet easily viewable from any position in your room. This television mounting option is normally used to install LCD monitors above fireplaces, worktops and in bedrooms to be angled downwards and viewed when lying down in bed. A typical tilt and swivel wall mount can add 4 to 6 inches to the depth of the mounted television.

Table stands are another way to mount your LCD TV.  Each TV will usually have its own custom base, or stand. This would usually be included with the television itself when you purchase it from new.  Some manufacturers however, will make you purchase the base, or stand, as a separate item.

Articulating Wall Mounts and fixings use a swivel arm to fix the LCD TV flush to the wall, this can then be pulled away from the wall and swivelled in any direction for optimum viewing. These devices will normally allow you to twist the display 120° left or right and as much as 10° up or down in a vertical motion.

A Ceiling Mount enable you to fix the television directly to a ceiling when a wall surface is not suitable. This option is usually coupled with a tilt action to angle the TV downwards, the display can then be adjusted for easy and clear viewing. This option is frequently used in venues such as public houses and sporting facilities.  The length of a ceiling mount can vary in accordance with the exact requirement, a standard lengths would usually be between 24 and 44 inches.
